Defence Success!

I successfully defended today and after a few minor edits and additions to my document, I can submit the final copy and be done, done, done!!!!! No more school for me! Now that I have those letters after my name, I should be treated with the respect I deserve.....(although my dad informs me that I've always been treated with the respect I desereve.....somehow I think our opinions about said respect differ.....

Cheers all. Let the celebrations begin!

P.S. hopefully now you'll have a much saner version of me.....no more random outbursts or rants. Thanks to those who put up with them. Using Corinne's words, I think I've found my cure for "leaky eye syndrome"

Congrats Katherine! You are finally finished and with that we have 26 days before we are off to the beaches to enjoy the sunny weather, the elephant rides and the mai tais...we can never forget the mai tais!! Cheers to you and your accomplishments over the past year. I don't think I could have found a better travel partner!

Congratulations Katherine, we're really happy for you! So much hard work and time spent - but it will be totally worth it. Especially since you're now the mostest edumacated one in the whole family.

Hmm, I might actaully have to admit that you're not as blonde as I first thought.

With that being said, I think I'm still in your dad's camp on the whole respect issue...

Hey Katherine!

Here is the info I said I'd get to you: (it's mostly just what to expect for costs and stuff in Thailand, mind you I was there over 2 years ago so it may have gone up a bit)

(100 Baht is about 3 dollars Canadian)
Red Bull: 55 baht
beer: 50-80 baht
cocktails: 100-120 baht
bucket (Sangsum): 150-250 Baht

T-shirts: 150 baht (approx if you barter)
pants: 200-250 baht
speakers (for walkman or whatev): 800 baht
jeans: anywhere from 450-600 baht

Taxi to Kho Saon Road from hotel approx 5km away: 40 baht
Tuk tuk in bangkok: depending how far but normally 40 baht

internet access: anywhere from 1-3 baht/minute except in Bangkok where it's about 15/min
shoes: 200 baht
food: 40-70 baht
pop: 20 baht
fruit shakes: 40 baht
our hotel in Bangkok cost about 1200 baht a night, but it was pretty swank. It was called the Trang Hotel if you guys want to look it up. On the islands it was about 200-600 baht a night.

Crap I forgot to add some things:

Like I said, when I was in Bangkok I stayed at the Trang Hotel which you can see here:

http://www.tranghotelbangkok.com/

When I was in Railey I stayed at Rapala Wood Resort Aow, Railey (Aow is the name of the town)

In Koh Phi Phi (not sure if this place is there anymore because of the Tsunami) I stayed at the Adaman Beach Resort

On Koh Samui I stayed at the Lotus Bungalows (they were probably the most skeezy..there were cockroaches here)

Oh Koh Phagnan we stayed at the Pad Yuan Bungalows up this cliff side, they were brand new little huts.
